Each step up adds features as well as capacity. Essential adds section monitoring, check schedules on specific days and times, manual user actions and support for content that loads late. Business adds element-level monitoring, Slack, webhooks and MCP access for AI assistants. Domain scanning, full page archiving, multi-region checks, notification review workflows, multiple workspaces and SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) single sign-on are Enterprise features.

Every paid plan opens with a 5-day free trial. ChangeTower takes a card when the trial starts and charges it when the 5 days end unless you cancel first.

For comparison, Website Change Tracker's plans are Basic at $5 a month for 5 pages checked daily, Starter at $30 for 50 pages checked hourly, Pro at $150 for 250 pages checked every 5 minutes and Business at $350 for 1,000 pages. Yearly billing takes 20% off. There is no free plan and no trial.

Which is cheaper for your watch list?

ChangeTower is cheaper at 1 to 3 pages checked daily, 6 to 25 pages checked daily and 51 to 200 pages checked hourly. Website Change Tracker is cheaper at 4 or 5 pages, up to 50 pages checked hourly, and for Slack or webhook alerts under $78. Teams change the answer. ChangeTower includes extra team members from its $12 plan, up to 5 extra on Business, while Website Change Tracker's Basic and Starter plans are for one user and its first plan with team members is Pro at $150. For up to 6 people and 200 pages checked hourly or less often, ChangeTower costs less. Past that, ChangeTower moves to an Enterprise quote, and Website Change Tracker's Business plan covers 20 people and 1,000 pages for $350.

Where ChangeTower is the better choice

ChangeTower is the better choice when the pages need a browser to show their content, when a team reviews alerts together, or when the list is 51 to 200 pages checked hourly, going by its pricing page and FAQ in October 2026.

  • Pages built with JavaScript. ChangeTower's FAQ says every check loads the page in a real browser and waits for it to render. Website Change Tracker reads the HTML as served, and in its own test on 22 October 2026, 2 of 40 software pricing pages and all 3 Ashby job boards showed no usable text without JavaScript.
  • Pages behind a login, a cookie banner or a picker. ChangeTower's manual user actions replay sign-ins and clicks before each check, from Essential at $36. Website Change Tracker monitors public pages only.
  • Teams that review alerts together. Every ChangeTower plan can comment on notifications, and extra team members start on Lite. Workspaces arrived with v2 on 31 December 2025, and the 24 September 2026 release added @mentions in notes, a mentions inbox and a board view of notifications. Formal review workflows and multiple workspaces are Enterprise features.
  • A dated record of days when nothing changed. ChangeTower's FAQ says a snapshot is stored on every check, although its pricing page lists full page archiving on every check as an Enterprise feature, so ask which applies to your plan. Website Change Tracker saves a version when the page changes and records the time of the last check.
  • A page that stops loading. ChangeTower's FAQ says you see it immediately. Website Change Tracker shows a failed check on the page in the dashboard but does not send an alert about it.
  • Trying before paying. A free plan for 3 pages, and a 5-day trial on every paid plan.
  • A public track record. ChangeTower's pricing page shows a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on G2. Website Change Tracker has no public reviews yet.
  • A Chrome extension for adding a page from the tab you are on and, on Business, MCP access so Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini can create monitors and read alerts.
  • 51 to 200 pages checked hourly, at $36 or $78 a month against $150 on Website Change Tracker's Pro plan.

Where Website Change Tracker is the better choice

Website Change Tracker is the better choice when you need checks every 5 minutes at a published price, alerts in Slack or your own systems on a small plan, or a history that does not expire, going by both companies' pricing pages on 22 October 2026.

  • Checks every 5 minutes. Pro checks up to 250 pages every 5 minutes for $150 a month. ChangeTower's extension page mentions 5-minute checks, but its pricing page lists nothing faster than hourly short of Enterprise, and its FAQ says Business checks every 20 minutes.
  • Slack and webhooks on every plan, from $5 a month. On ChangeTower they start at Business, $78 a month. Slack alerts for website changes shows the setup.
  • History without a time limit from Starter at $30. ChangeTower keeps 30 days on Lite, 60 days on Essential and 6 months on Business.
  • One element of a page by CSS selector from Starter at $30, against single elements from Business at $78 on ChangeTower, where Essential watches sections.
  • Two list sizes: 4 or 5 pages for $5 rather than $12, and up to 50 pages checked hourly for $30 rather than $36.
  • Scale at a published price: 250 pages on Pro and 1,000 on Business. ChangeTower's largest published plan is 200 pages, and beyond that is a sales call.
  • Adding pages from a site's sitemap from Pro, where ChangeTower's domain scanning is an Enterprise feature.

Can Website Change Tracker read the pages you want to monitor?

Usually, if the page puts its text in the HTML. On 22 October 2026, Website Change Tracker fetched 62 public competitor pages from the servers that run its checks and read 52 of them as text, including 33 of 40 software pricing pages and all 9 changelogs tested. The competitor monitoring page has the full table and method.

The pages it could not read failed in four ways. Atlassian's Jira and HubSpot's Marketing Hub pricing pages, and every Ashby-hosted job board, were empty until JavaScript ran. Canva and Pipedrive returned HTTP 403. 1Password and Wix did not show their prices as text consistently. Webflow did not connect.

To test a page before you choose, open it, view the page source (Ctrl+U, or Option+Command+U on a Mac) and search for the text you care about. If it is in the body of the page, Website Change Tracker can usually read it. It cannot if the text sits only inside a script or the page's head, or if the site refuses requests from servers, as Canva and Pipedrive did although both open normally in a browser. For pages built by scripts, ChangeTower or Visualping, which both render pages in a browser, is the better tool.

How do the alerts compare?

Both products alert only on changes that match the rule you wrote, and both show what was removed and what was added. They differ in what comes with the change.

According to ChangeTower's home page, every notification carries an AI summary of what changed, why it matters and the potential impact, and its FAQ says removed text shows in red and added text in green. Since the 24 September 2026 release, Slack alerts from AI monitors also include the AI's reason for flagging the change. Notifications can be marked Reviewed or Important and commented on, and ChangeTower can send a daily digest.

A Website Change Tracker alert leads with a one-line summary of the change, then lists the old value and the new value, with a link to the change page where the before-and-after and the saved snapshot sit. Changes that do not match the rule are saved to the page's history without sending anything. How to stop false positives shows the rules and selectors on a page that changes constantly.

What are the other ChangeTower alternatives?

The main ChangeTower alternatives are Visualping, Distill and changedetection.io, alongside Website Change Tracker. Each figure is from that tool's own page on 22 October 2026.

ToolStarting priceFastest checkBest for
VisualpingFree for 5 pages and 150 checks a month; Personal from $14/mo; Business from $140/moEvery 2 minutes, from Personal 10K ($70/mo)Visual, screenshot comparison, with an API and MCP server on every plan. Visualping pricing, worked out
DistillFree for 25 monitors (5 in the cloud); Starter $15/moEvery 2 minutes in the cloud on Flexi ($80+/mo); local monitors from 5 secondsPrecise control over triggers, and checks that run in your own browser
changedetection.ioFree and open source to self-host; hosted plan $8.99/mo for 5,000 URL watchesSet by youTechnical users who will run the monitor themselves. Website Change Tracker vs changedetection.io
Website Change TrackerBasic $5/mo for 5 pagesEvery 5 minutes, on Pro ($150/mo)Text changes on pages that serve their text as HTML, with Slack and webhooks on every plan

Visualping and Distill meter usage in checks as well as pages, so the plan you need depends on how often you check, not only on how many pages you watch. ChangeTower and Website Change Tracker price by pages and check frequency. For more tools side by side, see the best website change monitoring tools and Visualping alternatives.

How to switch from ChangeTower to Website Change Tracker

Moving takes about as long as setting up the monitors did, because there is no import between the two. Run both for a week or two before you cancel anything.

  1. List the ChangeTower monitors you rely on, and copy each one's URL and its plain-English criteria.
  2. Run the page-source test on each URL. Keep any page whose text is missing from the body of the source, or that needs a login, on a tool that renders pages in a browser.
  3. Add the rest to Website Change Tracker with the same criteria as the alert rule. Where a ChangeTower monitor watched one section, use a CSS selector for that element, from Starter.
  4. Set the check frequency and send alerts to the Slack channel or webhook your team already uses.
  5. Before your ChangeTower plan ends, export the snapshots you need to keep as PDF or spreadsheet reports, which ChangeTower's FAQ says you can do from a page's snapshot list. History does not move between tools, and Website Change Tracker's record of a page starts at its first check.
